MIXED METHODS RESEARCH: A QUICK REFERENCE TO NAMING THE DESIGNS
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to give a quick reference to naming the various mixed methods research designs. It is based on the writer’s experience as a beginner in research methodology. Many research methods books have described the various research designs together with their variant models. Unfortunately, none of the books that the writer of this paper came across has attempted to put together the quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods designs explaining their variant designs. Therefore, the writer of this paper finds it important to help a beginner in mixed methods research with a quick reference to naming the various mixed methods research designs in an abstract form. The details can be easily traced in different research methodology books and are left as an assignment for the learner.
Key words: Mixed Methods, Research Designs, Variant Models
